Another $39.31 For the Villisca Schools

Thank you to all those who begin their online shopping at igive.com. Today igive.com reported that a check for $39.31 will be sent to the Villisca Community School District for purchases made during the fourth quarter ending December 31, 2008. This brings the total money received by the school to $173.61. Another check will be received at the end of June because as of 3/23/09, a total of $307.83 has been raised - $248.13 through shopping and bonuses and $59.70 through 3052 yahoo searches.  Thanks to everyone who start their searches at isearchigive.com and their shopping at igive.com. 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament Registration

The registration form for the 3 on 3 Basketbal Tournament to be held on the Joel Herzberg Family Fun Day here in Villisca has been posted on villisca.com. The schedule for the day has also been posted. More information regarding the day will be posted on the website as it becomes available.

VHS to STATE

For those who have not heard elsewhere.

Our Bluejay boys will be playing Rock Valley in the State Tournament in Des Moinesat 3:45 on Monday, March 9 at the Wells Fargo Arena. Admission will be $8 for two years old and up.  There will be NO pre sale tickets.  The Main Ticket Entrance & Box Office ticket windows are for spectators who need to purchase tickets.  Wells Fargo Arena does NOT accept checks as payment for tickets.

There will be a community pep rally @ 1 p.m. in the VHS gym on Sunday. (Note:  The Villisca Chamber of Commerce will be having a fundraiser at the Community Building from 11:00-12:30. They will be serving lasagna, salad, garlic bread, dessert for a free will donation.)

The VAFA Executive Committee has been in contact with the school to see if there were areas where VAFA could be of assistance. It has been decided that VAFA will provide funds for meals for the players, coaches & student managers. They will travel to Des Moines on Sunday and return Monday evening. This assistance from VAFA will allow the entire team to have an enjoyable/lifetime experience without a financial burden on any particular family. The VAFA funds come from VAFA memberships and other donations. We thank all those who have contributed to VAFA allowing us to be a part of this exciting time in the life of VHS. Note: It is our understanding that IHAA provides assistance for lodging.

The game will be carried on our two regional radio stations – KCSI FM 95.3 and KMA AM 960. If you are unable to get good reception on the radio, both stations will be carrying it live on the Internet. KCSI is www.kcsifm.com.

The Bluejays won at substate - On to State

Villisca Bluejays beat East Mills Wolverines 52-47 tonight. On to State - they will play Rock Valley Monday, March 9 at 3:45 p.m.   Way to go Bluejays!!!!!
